AMD came to us to shoot some products for their August Social and for this shoot, we got the opportunity to try out a few new things. This was our first time shooting on an LED volume and it was such a fun challenge to learn about this amazing new tech. We shot at Stray Vista Studios in Dripping Springs, TX - an amazing new facility with a 60’ curved LED wall. We shot on the Red Helium with Angenieux Optimo Primes and we also used a motion control rig for the first time. Lots of firsts for the team, but the finished results were more than worth it!
Our client, AMD, had a company called Freeman make the UnReal backgrounds, and because Stray Vista sent us an UnReal model of the stage, Nick was able to make our pre-vis animatics to scale using a virtual camera on UnReal Engine. It was super helpful to be able to have pre-vis for each shot so that we had an idea of what the production was going to look like. Check out the before & after below.
